Alexander Thomson Hotel

Very clean and tidy, spacious rooms which are cleaned daily. Breakfast was of a wide range and plenty to choose from, staff were brilliant, very helpful and friendly, even when some daft Englishman was treating them look e dirt. They just smiled and did their best. The only problem I could say was the pillows were quite flat, but we asked the female receptionist if we could get another two pillows and within the hour when we return from a day out we had them. 110% rating from my wife and I. Will definitely be going back asap.

The bed was comfortable, the free food tasty, and the TV gave a good range of programs to watch. Every staff member I interacted with was helpful and did their job well. My room lacked a few essential toiletries, but apart from that, my stay was great.

Quite nice hotel. Excellent location half block from Central Station and pretty close to the city centre. The staff was really attentive and helpful. Full English every morning and delicious biscuits in the room. The lift was a bit moody though, but it was just a minor detail. Stayed there a second time this year and had the same experience. Really comfortable rooms, they added a spare bed for a friend at very low cost. Staff is friendly and ready to help. Only thing, old tap system in the shower makes it difficult to combine hot and cold water. But I'd keep coming every year!

Excellent location, walking distance from Central railway station. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Rooms are small, but sufficient for overnighting. Bathroom is well designed. There is an electric kettle with tea, coffee and milk. Also, hair dryer is available. There were no table, but staff provided one when I asked for.

We got a refurbished almost new room so cleanliness was not an issue. The breakfast was ok, a bit spicy for our taste. The building front and entrance are old but the rooms, the new one are great. Heating should be controllable, we could not find it how to turn it down and the 118 was quite a noisy room as it had the window looking at the main roads near by. And if there is a wind you’ll feel the need of the old windows replacement as it gets very noisy. But great value for the money for sure .

We stayed for two nights in an executive suite. The room was very large and lovely and clean. The breakfast each morning was pretty mediocre and the produce used seemed quite cheap. All in all though, our stay was very good value. There was quite a lot of noise from Argyle Street on Saturday night, but this was no fault of the hotel.

The room i had was above expectations, it had two walls of windows showing off lots of Glasgow night life, the bed was so big and comfortable me and my other half were so appreciative of. The bathroom only had a shower but it wasn't a big problem as the shower was nice and hot and spacious, the only down fall was no mini fridge when there was more than plenty of space and it was the executive suite, also was told by the front of house staff that when calling again to ask the the 3rd floor if you are a smoker due to there being facilities for smoking available. Nice clean and tidy rooms would recommend and we ourselves will definitely be back.

Cant complain about anything. We stayed here overnight after attending an event in the nearby Hydro arena. It’s extremely central, about 10 minutes away from the venue and a couple of minutes from the centre shops. The room was amazing. It was massive, old fashioned high ceiling, and a nice looking, spacious bathroom. There was a wonderful seating area in the room. There could have easily been another couple of beds in the room it was so big. I definitely recommend for somewhere to stay. We didn’t have breakfast so unfortunately can’t comment on that.
